話,心懷謊言,隨即說出。14並且公平轉而退後,公義站在遠處;

Chapter 59
9 So justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us.
We look for light, but all is darkness; for brightness, but we walk in deep
shadows.10 Like the blind we grope along the wall, feeling our way like
people without eyes.At midday we stumble as if it were twilight; among
the strong, we are like the dead.11 We all growl like bears; we moan
mournfully like doves. We look for justice, but find none; for deliverance,
but it is far away.12 For our offenses are many in your sight, and our
sins testify against us.Our offenses are ever with us, and we acknowledge
our iniquities:13 rebellion and treachery against the LORD, turning our
backs on our God,inciting revolt and oppression, uttering lies our hearts
have conceived.14 So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a
distance;truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter.
15 Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey.

Meditation
1. Silence – Read/Listen – Meditate – Pray – Contemplate

2. As you read the passage aloud, replace we with I, and our with my.
What might God be thinking as he hears you read this?

3. What is the word or phrase that touches you today as you read and
meditate on this passage? What is your emotion as you read this
word or phrase?

4. Now, make a list of sins – big and small – that you’ve committed in
the past week. In prayer, go through your list item by item, admit to
God that you should not have participated in such wrongdoing. Do
this with a humble and repentant heart. Ask God to help you not to
focus any longer on your sin, but to be free to focus and turn toward
him.

5. As you go through today, make a point to confess your sins to God.
As you do this, be as specific as you can about your sins, acknowledging
your desperation and futility in attempting to live apart from
him.

Prayer & Journaling: Stay with God for a little longer. Continue to converse
with God and listen to what he wants to tell me. Then write down
any thought and/or prayer in the 2012 “Spiritual Journal” book.

Chapter 58
3 ‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and you have not seen it?Why have
we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?’“Yet on the day of your
fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.4 Your fasting
ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists.
You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on
high.5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for people to
humble themselves? Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed and for
lying in sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable
to the LORD?6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:to loose the
chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke,to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and
to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to
clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will
quickly appear;then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory
of the LORD will be your rear guard.9 Then you will call, and the LORD
will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.“If you do
away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious
talk,10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the
needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your
night will become like the noonday.

Meditation
1. Silence – Read/Listen – Meditate – Pray – Contemplate

2. What is the word or phrase that touches you today as you read and
meditate on this passage? What is your emotion as you read this
word or phrase?

3. Have you ever fasted? Why or why not? What benefits did you
experience?

4. Fasting or any one of the religious activities that we’re “supposed”
to do, do us no good when we engage in it for the wrong reasons
and with the wrong attitude. In which religious activities do you
find yourself just going through the motions: attending church?
Reading the Bible? Prayer? Communion service? Fasting? How
are these activities affecting you now? What attitudes are needed
for these activities to be “acceptable to the Lord”?

Chapter 57
14 And it will be said:“Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the
obstacles out of the way of my people.”15 For this is what the high and
exalted One says—he who lives forever, whose name is holy:
“I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and
lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the
contrite.16 I will not accuse them forever, nor will I always be angry,
for then they would faint away because of me—the very people I have
created.17 I was enraged by their sinful greed; I punished them, and hid
my face in anger, yet they kept on in their willful ways.18 I have seen their
ways, but I will heal them;I will guide them and restore comfort to Israel’s
mourners,19 creating praise on their lips. Peace, peace, to those far and
near,”says the LORD. “And I will heal them.”20 But the wicked are like
the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud.
21 “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”

Meditation
1. Silence – Read/Listen – Meditate – Pray – Contemplate

2. What is the word or phrase that touches you today as you read and
meditate on this passage? What is your emotion as you read this
word or phrase?

3. How do you feel of this God who is both far off and dwells on high,
yet keeps company with the humble, the contrite, and the poor in
spirit?

4. Do you know someone who is sad and depressed? Decide a way
that you can show God’s love to this special person and make plans
to carry it out.

Chapter 56
1 This is what the LORD says: “Maintain justice and do what is right,
for my salvation is close at hand and my righteousness will soon be revealed.
2 Blessed is the one who does this—the person who holds it fast,
who keeps the Sabbath without desecrating it, and keeps their hands from
doing any evil.”3 Let no foreigner who is bound to the LORD say,
“The LORD will surely exclude me from his people.”And let no eunuch
complain, “I am only a dry tree.”4 For this is what the LORD says:
“To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose what pleases me
and hold fast to my covenant—5 to them I will give within my temple and
its walls a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters;I will give
them an everlasting name that will endure forever.6 And foreigners who
bind themselves to the LORD to minister to him,to love the name of the
LORD, and to be his servants, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating
it and who hold fast to my covenant—7 these I will bring to my holy
mountain and give them joy in my house of prayer.Their burnt offerings
and sacrifices will be accepted on my altar;for my house will be called a
house of prayer for all nations.”

Meditation
1. Silence – Read/Listen – Meditate – Pray – Contemplate

2. What is the word or phrase that touches you today as you read and
meditate on this passage? What is your emotion as you read this
word or phrase? How is that related to your current situation? What
does God tell you to do?

3. In this passage, God is extending an inclusive policy to all people to
enter into the temple if they keep Sabbath and keep God’s covenant
(verses 4, 6). Have you ever felt an outsider or been excluded from
joining some group? How does this passage apply to you today?

4. “A house of prayer for all nations”(v7).

5. Meditation, confession and repentance are proper attitudes for
prayer, but so is joy, as this verse reminds us. Joy is also one of the
fruits of the spirit (Gal 5:22). Try to begin or end with a praise song
to help bring joy to your prayer/devotion time.

Prayer & Journaling: Stay with God for a little longer. Continue to converse
with God and listen to what he wants to tell me. Then write down
any thought and/or prayer in the 2012 “Spiritual Journal” book.

Chapter 55
6 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts.
Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, and to our
God, for he will freely pardon. 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.9 “As the heavens
are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my
thoughts than your thoughts.10 As the rain and the snow come down from
heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it
bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me
empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which
I sent it.12 You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace;the mountains
and hills will burst into song before you,and all the trees of the field will
clap their hands.13 Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and
instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown,
for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.”

Meditation
1. Silence – Read/Listen – Meditate – Pray – Contemplate

2. What is the word or phrase that touches you today as you read and
meditate on this passage? What is your emotion as you read this
word or phrase?

3. In light of verses 6-7, have you been seeking the Lord or hiding
from him this week? Why? What is God speaking to you about
this?

4. Think of the most impressive range of mountains you have ever
seen, the Rockies, or some other mountains. How would you feel
as you realized that the mountains were singing for joy over what
God has done in and for you (v12)? What does that imply about
your importance to God?

Chapter 54
4 “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame.Do not fear disgrace;
you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and
remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.5 For your Maker is
your husband— the Lord Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is
your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.6 The Lord will call
you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—a wife
who married young, only to be rejected,” says your God.7 “For a brief moment
I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back.
8 In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting
kindness I will have compassion on you,”says the Lord your Redeemer.
9 “To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters
of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to
be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.10 Though the mountains

Chapter 53
4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him
punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.5 But he was pierced for
our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;the punishment that
brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.6 We all,
like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way;and
the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.7 He was oppressed and
afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth;he was led like a lamb to the
slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,so he did not open his
mouth.8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his
generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the
transgression of my people he was punished.

Meditation
1. Read the passage aloud slowly, knowing that this “suffering servant”
passage is a prophecy about Jesus. If possible, read the whole
chapter as well.

2. Read this passage. See the servant of God, so battered and disfigured
he hardly seems human anymore. Live with him as he is
despised and rejected by men. Watch him take up our iniquities and
be pierced for our transgressions. See the blood flow as his life isEdit
crushed from him, as from a sin offering. And realize that he chose
this fate, that by his wounds we might be healed.

3. Silence – Read/Listen – Meditate – Pray – Contemplate

4. Respond to God about the words that touched you most. Talk also
to God about how Jesus can make you righteous.

5. Move through your day with this idea: Jesus “died without a thought
for his own welfare”. If he died that way, how much more must he
have lived that way? Try living that selflessly a few minutes at a
time.

Prayer & Journaling: Stay with God for a little longer. Continue to converse
with God and listen to what he wants to tell me. Then write down
any thought and/or prayer in the 2012 “Spiritual Journal” book.

Chapter 52
7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good
news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim
salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”8 Listen! Your watchmen
lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the Lord returns to
Zion, they will see it with their own eyes.9 Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem, for the Lord has comforted his people, he has
redeemed Jerusalem.10 The Lord will lay bare his holy arm in the sight
of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our
God.11 Depart, depart, go out from there! Touch no unclean thing!
Come out from it and be pure, you who carry the articles of the Lord’s
house.12 But you will not leave in haste or go in flight;
for the Lord will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

Chapter 51
4 “Listen to me, my people; hear me, my nation:Instruction will go out
from me; my justice will become a light to the nations.5 My righteousness
draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way,and my arm will bring
justice to the nations. The islands will look to me and wait in hope for my
arm.6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath;the heavens
will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its
inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness
will never fail.7 “Hear me, you who know what is right, you people
who have taken my instruction to heart:Do not fear the reproach of mere
mortals or be terrified by their insults.8 For the moth will eat them up like
a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness
will last forever, my salvation through all generations.”9 Awake, awake,
arm of the LORD, clothe yourself with strength!Awake, as in days gone
by, as in generations of old.Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who
pierced that monster through?10 Was it not you who dried up the sea,
the waters of the great deep, who made a road in the depths of the sea so
that the redeemed might cross over?11 Those the LORD has rescued will
return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their
heads.Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will
flee away.

God’s promises are more enduring than the stars or the earth around
you (v6)? How might meditating upon the lesson of the stars, creation
of God, give you a new perspective on the problems that you
face today?

4. Speak to God about your new perspective as well as your problems.

Chapter 50
4 The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue,to know the
word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens
my ear to listen like one being instructed.5 The Sovereign Lord has opened
my ears;I have not been rebellious, I have not turned away.6 I offered my
back to those who beat me,my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard;
I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting.7 Because the Sovereign
Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like
flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.8 He who vindicates me is near.
Who then will bring charges against me? Let us face each other!Who is
my accuser? Let him confront me!9 It is the Sovereign Lord who helps
me. Who will condemn me?They will all wear out like a garment; the
moths will eat them up.
